The Christian Academy Warriors will square off against the South Central Rebels at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Tuesday, Christian Academy needed a bit of extra time to put away Crawford County. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wolfpack, sneaking past 4-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.
Carly Stevens spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Natalie McKain, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Smith, who went 3-for-4 with one run.
Meanwhile, while South Central put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Crothersville. The Rebels were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Tigers. Considering the Rebels have won five games by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Gracie Haag and Addison Stepro were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Haag tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Stepro struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. At the plate, Haag went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Stepro went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Isla Schweitzer was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Addison Brown was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
South Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crothersville only posted a batting average of .062.
Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for South Central, their win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-8.
