Softball Game Preview: Pine Tree Pirates vs. Spring Hill Panthers

The Pine Tree Pirates will take on the Spring Hill Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Pine Tree: they have been struggling with nine straight losses at home dating back to last season, while Spring Hill has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.

Pine Tree came up short against Gilmer on Friday, falling 10-3.

Jasmine Byrd was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of E.K. Holder, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Spring Hill). Everything went their way against Chapel Hill on Tuesday as Spring Hill made off with a 23-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won eight matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Spring Hill got a massive performance out of Khloe Saxon, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Saxon a new career-high. Josie Gray was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and three RBI.

Spring Hill was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .615. They are 9-1-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Spring Hill's victory bumped their record up to 13-9-1. As for Pine Tree, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-13-1.

Pine Tree took their win against Spring Hill when the teams last played on March 3rd by a conclusive 14-2. Will Pine Tree repeat their success, or does Spring Hill has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
