Basketball Game Preview: North Charleston Cougars vs. Oceanside Collegiate Academy Landsharks

North Charleston hasn't had much luck against Oceanside Collegiate Academy recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The North Charleston Cougars will venture away from home to take on the Oceanside Collegiate Academy Landsharks at 6:30 p.m. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

North Charleston took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They breezed by Hanahan to the tune of 81-27. That looming 81-27 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Cougars yet this season.

Meanwhile, Oceanside Collegiate Academy had already won 11 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.5 points) and they went ahead and made it 12 on Tuesday. They blew past the Dolphins, posting a 62-29 victory. Given the Landsharks' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while the Dolphins are ranked 117th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Oceanside Collegiate Academy pushed their record up to 16-1 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.2 points per game. As for North Charleston, their victory bumped their record up to 12-8.

North Charleston skirted past Oceanside Collegiate Academy 59-56 when the teams last played back in January of 2022. Will North Charleston repeat their success, or does Oceanside Collegiate Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
