Basketball Recap: Evansville Mater Dei Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Cole Breeden and Charlie Hoffman

Evansville Mater Dei lost against Southridge back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Evansville Mater Dei Wildcats lost 57-36 to the Southridge Raiders. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Wildcats have suffered since January 2nd.

Despite the loss, Evansville Mater Dei had strong showings from Charlie Hoffman, who posted 11 points, and Cole Breeden, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 12 points and four blocks. What's more, Hoffman also racked up two steals, the most he's had since back in December of 2023.

Evansville Mater Dei's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Southridge, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Evansville Mater Dei Wildcats face off against the Evansville Reitz Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Southridge, they will venture away from home to take on South Knox at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
