Softball Recap: Cypress Creek Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

While Cypress Creek didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on the City of Life Christian Academy Warriors with a sharp 20-7 win on Thursday. The Bears' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Amanda Cintron made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI.

In other batting news, Cypress Creek let Alondra Lozada and Britney Freitez run wild. Lozada went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Freitez scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. That's the most runs Freitez has posted since back in March of 2024. Sofia Lopez was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Cypress Creek's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs over those games. As for City of Life Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Cypress Creek will be playing at home against Tohopekaliga at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tohopekaliga knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Cypress Creek likes a good challenge. As for City of Life Christian Academy, they will head out to challenge Windermere Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Windermere Prep will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something City of Life Christian Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
