Basketball Recap: Rex Blue's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Dawson Springs over Logan County

It was a proper cat-fight when Dawson Springs took on Logan County on Friday. The Dawson Springs Panthers fell 79-69 to the Logan County Cougars. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (61), the Panthers still had to take the loss.

Dawson Springs' defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rex Blue, who almost dropped a triple-double with 13 points, ten rebounds, and nine assists. Blue has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Montgomery Johnston was another key player, going 9-for-19 to rack up 23 points and five assists.

Dawson Springs has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-14 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.2 points over those games. Logan County is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.
