Softball Game Recap: West Lincoln Rebels vs. Newton-Conover Red Devils

West Lincoln had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Newton-Conover on Friday. The West Lincoln Rebels never let the Newton-Conover Red Devils get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The Rebels haven't had any issues with the Red Devils recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Stacia Cowan was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abree Sutton, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Carpenter, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

West Lincoln always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

West Lincoln's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 5-4. As for Newton-Conover, their loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-5.

Coming up, West Lincoln will take on West Caldwell at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Newton-Conover, they will welcome Bandys at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Newton-Conover has given up an average of 10.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
