Basketball Recap: Southeast's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

Southeast had lost three straight headed into Saturday's contest, but Jalen Byrd didn't let it get to four. The Southeast Seminoles walked away with an 85-73 win over the Sumner Stingrays on Saturday thanks in part to Byrd, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Those 22 points gave him a new career-high.

Another player making a difference was Landon Hornes, who posted nine points along with six assists and five steals. He has become a key player for Southeast: the team is 9-4 when he posts at least five steals, but 2-3 otherwise.

Southeast's victory bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Sumner, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.

Southeast wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 70-21 win against IMG Academy Silver on the 20th. Sumner has also already played their next contest, a 76-72 defeat against Venice on the 20th.
