Volleyball Recap: Maury Commodores vs. Kellam Knights

Maury and Kellam squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Maury had to settle for second. They came up short against the Kellam Knights, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Commodores of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2014.

Maury was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Kellam work for it, especially in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 28-26, 25-11, 25-9.

Kellam was led to victory by Giulia Alison and Sydney Stone. Alison had 13 digs and five aces, while Stone had ten digs and three aces. Stone has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last nine times she's played.

Maury's defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-6. As for Kellam, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-9.

Maury does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Kellam, they will square off against First Colonial at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. First Colonial is coming into the match with nine straight victories on the road, so Kellam will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
