Baseball Game Preview: North Clarion Wolves vs. Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley

North Clarion hasn't had much luck against Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Wolves will square off against Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley at 4:00 p.m.

North Clarion is headed into Saturday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They lost 11-1 to Cranberry Area.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley sidestepped Cranberry Area for a 6-4 victory. Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley hasn't had any issues with Cranberry Area recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Sebastian Link made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2. Those runs marked the first that he scored this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Trent Fleming, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. That hit marked the first that he got this season.

The victory got Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley back to even at 2-2. As for North Clarion, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

North Clarion suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
