The Centennial Bulldogs will head out on the road to take on the Faith Lutheran Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Centennial will be strutting in after a win while Faith Lutheran will be coming in after a loss.
Centennial is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Silverado with a sharp 17-1 victory on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Bulldogs with their most commanding win of the season.
Audrina Perez looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Centennial got a massive performance out of Aubrey Bressler, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Those hits were Bressler's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sloane Merrell, who scored three runs while going 1-for-3.
Centennial always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February of 2024.
Meanwhile, Faith Lutheran faced Doral Academy Red Rock in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Faith Lutheran came up short against Doral Academy Red Rock, falling 8-1. The matchup marked the Crusaders' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Faith Lutheran saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bella Dimmick, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Centennial is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. Faith Lutheran's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
Faith Lutheran's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Centennial has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Faith Lutheran, though, as they've been averaging only 3.6 strikeouts. Will Centennial keep running through batters, or will Faith Lutheran buck the trend?
Centennial beat Faith Lutheran 5-1 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Centennial since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
