Football Recap: Benjamin Miller Key Part of Team Effort in Barristers Win

Marshall won against Glendale last Friday with 27 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. The Barristers walked away with a 27-18 win over the Sylmar Spartans. This was payback for the Barristers, who suffered a 31-12 loss the last time these two teams met.

Marshall got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Benjamin Miller out in front who picked up 113 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Miller got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 63 yards. Another passer making a difference was Nathaniel Cadet, who threw for 144 yards and three touchdowns.

Despite the loss, Sylmar still got an impressive performance from Tim Tanner Jr, who threw for 124 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushed for 94 yards on only eight carries. Justin Lopez was another key player, picking up 73 receiving yards and two scores.

Marshall has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coming up, Marshall will look to takes advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Contreras at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Sylmar, they will head out to challenge Chavez at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th.
