Basketball Recap: Wesleyan Christian Academy Takes a Loss

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Wesleyan Christian Academy and Providence Day, and Providence Day kept the tradition alive. The Trojans received a blow on Tuesday as they fell 58-39 to the Chargers. The matchup marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Leading Providence Day to victory were Ginny Anne Dumont and Jaida McClure. Dumont went 8-for-14 en route to 19 points and six assists, while McClure shot 56% from the field on her way to 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Thanks to that strong game, Dumont now owns an excellent 45.1% shooting accuracy. Jane Updyke was another key player, putting up nine points and six steals.

Wesleyan Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Providence Day, their victory was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wesleyan Christian Academy will square off against Asheville School (Independent) at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans will be up against the Blues' rather soft defense (which has allowed 51.4 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Providence Day, they will challenge Ravenscroft at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
