Recap: Jacksonville Golden Eagles vs. Ashville Bulldogs
There's no place like home for the Jacksonville Golden Eagles, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Monday. They snuck past Ashville with a 64-58 victory on Tuesday. Given Jacksonville's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while Ashville is ranked 272nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jacksonville was led to victory by Jaquan Ervin and Devin Barksdale. Ervin scored 13 points, while Barksdale scored 16 points along with five assists. Another player making a difference was Quinn Weaver, who scored nine points.
Jacksonville is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. As for Ashville, they dropped their record down to 14-12 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Jacksonville will be playing in front of their home fans against Cherokee County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Ashville, they will head out on the road to face off against Pleasant Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
