Baseball Recap: La Salle College Beats Lansdale Catholic for Their Eighth Straight Victory

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask La Salle College). Everything went their way against the Lansdale Catholic Crusaders on Wednesday as they made off with a 15-0 win. The Explorers' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Declan Cawley looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Caden Schmidt, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Matt Wambold also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

La Salle College was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lansdale Catholic only posted a batting average of .143.

La Salle College pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Lansdale Catholic, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. La Salle College will square off against Holy Ghost Prep at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Lansdale Catholic, they will take on Archbishop Wood at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Crusaders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
