Recap: Dixie Hornets vs. Whitmire Wolverines
The Dixie Hornets scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They blew past Whitmire 53-29. That looming 53-29 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Dixie yet this season.
Dixie found their leader in underclassman Jaylia Turner, who scored 24 points. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Turner has scored at least 25% of Dixie's points. Another player making a difference was Kerri O'Shields, who scored 11 points.
Dixie's win ended a 11-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-8. As for Whitmire, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dixie won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind at 6:00 p.m. on January 11th. South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 623rd, while Dixie is ranked 269th). Whitmire is on the road again on Friday and play against Thornwell at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th. Thornwell comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 15 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
