Basketball Recap: St. David's Victorious

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but St. David ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the New Life Camp Storm 47-44. That's more bragging rights for the Warriors, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

St. David's found their leader in freshman Anna Hauser, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hauser has scored all season. Jordan Holmes was another key player, putting up ten points.

Despite the defeat, New Life Camp had strong showings from Hannah Brown, who went 7 of 13 on her way to 19 points and five rebounds, and Julie Kranz, who posted 15 points and seven rebounds. Brown is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played.

St. David's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.7 points per game. As for New Life Camp, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-3.

When St. David's and New Life Camp next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. St. David's will try to stop St. Mary's five-game winning streak when the meet at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, New Life Camp will try to stop Chatham HomeSchool's three-game winning streak when the meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
