It was a good run, but Minto unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak dating back to last season on Saturday. They fell just short of the Effie Kokrine Charter Warriors by a score of 65-62. The loss was the Lakers' first of the season.

Jonas Carroll was a one-man wrecking crew for Effie Kokrine Charter as he posted 38 points. Carroll's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jeffery Frank, who had nine points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Minto fell to 4-1. As for Effie Kokrine Charter, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Minto will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Birchwood Christian at 4:30 p.m. on January 16th. Effie Kokrine Charter will also get a bit of a break before their next match: they'll face off against Tok on January 24th.
