Monrovia came tearing into Thursday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the San Fernando Tigers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since March 28, 2024.

Sutton Powers looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave him a new career-low.

At the plate, Josh Griffiths and Troy Grise did most of the damage at the plate: Griffiths went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI, while Grise scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Braydon Blackmore, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Monrovia's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for San Fernando, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-1.

Coming up, Monrovia will be playing at home against San Marino at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (San Marino: 1.2, Monrovia: 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for San Fernando, they will head out to challenge Cathedral at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. San Fernando's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Cathedral's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
