Baseball Recap: Monday's Win Is University Lab's 12th in Last 15 Outings

After losing to East Ascension the last time they met, University Lab decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Cubs blew past the Spartans 8-2 on Monday.

University Lab got a great performance from Grant Vollmer as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave Vollmer a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lane Mixon, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Jaris Hamilton was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

University Lab is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for East Ascension, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-20-1 record this season.

As of now, neither University Lab nor East Ascension have any future games scheduled.
