Softball Recap: South County Gets the Win

While South County's win against West Potomac wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Stallion narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Wolverines 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Stallion have posted since April 27th.

Madeline Grice spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Peyton Tom, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Thea Keating, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

South County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for South County and bumps their season record up to 14-7. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for West Potomac, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-11.

As of now, neither South County nor the Wolverines have any future games scheduled.
