Football Preview: Winneconne Wolves vs. Xavier Hawks

Winneconne hasn't had much luck against Xavier recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Winneconne Wolves are taking a road trip to square off against the Xavier Hawks at 7:00 p.m. Winneconne knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Xavier likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, everything came up roses for Winneconne at home against Shawano Community as the team secured a 39-8 victory. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 21-0.

Brody Schaffer continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 108 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries, while also throwing for 237 yards and three touchdowns. His longest rush was for an impressive 67 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Bryce Jones was another key player, gaining 121 total yards and a touchdown.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Winneconne was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 248 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 156 rushing yards in five consecutive matchups.
