Softball Recap: El Modena Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins at Home

El Modena dropped their record down to 16-6 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Cypress Centurions, falling 10-0. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Vanguards, who until this game were averaging 2.55 runs allowed.

As for Cypress, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-9. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

For Cypress' part, Delaney 'D.J.' Faus made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. Faus has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one triple. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Sanaiyah 'Naya' Cleland was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayla Bishop, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Looking ahead, El Modena will head out to face off against Canyon at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Comanches' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Vanguards' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Cypress, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Villa Park at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
