Avery Backus leads Summit Academy to victory over Providence Hall

Recap: Summit Academy Bears vs. Providence Hall Patriots

The Summit Academy Bears entered their tilt with the Providence Hall Patriots with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Summit Academy enjoyed a cozy 54-37 win over Providence Hall on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Summit Academy also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.

Avery Backus continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points along with eight steals and seven assists. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Summit Academy's points. Audrey Druce was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five steals.

Providence Hall's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Paige Krebs, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds. Krebs hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Sarah Scott, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.

Summit Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Providence Hall, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-6.

Summit Academy will head out on the road to face off against Judge Memorial Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Judge Memorial Catholic is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Providence Hall, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Layton Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Layton Christian Academy is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
