Softball Recap: Hope Blue Wave vs. Classical Lady Purple/Athena
Hope had lost five straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-8 to make it six. They came up short against the Classical Lady Purple/Athena, falling 24-9. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lady Purple/Athena this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-3 on Wednesday.
As for Classical, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-6. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 12 runs or more this season.
For Classical's part, Amellia Mendez was incredible, getting on base in four of her eight plate appearances with one home run and one stolen base. Mendez is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Amya Manston, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Hope will face off against rival Cranston East at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Classical is set to challenge their familiar foe Juanita Sanchez Complex at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
