Baseball Recap: Tomales Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Tomales and Sonoma Academy squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Tomales had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Coyotes by a score of 10-9. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Jorge Lopez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Tomales: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-9 otherwise.

Tomales' defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Sonoma Academy, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-5.

Tomales does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sonoma Academy, they will face off against Summerfield Waldorf at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Mustangs will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
