Basketball Recap: Firestone Takes a Loss

If Firestone was riding high fresh off their 47-14 takedown of Shaw last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Firestone Falcons fell just short of the Garfield Community Learning Center Golden Rams by a score of 52-50 on Thursday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 46-24 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Firestone lost, don't look at Kennedy Whiting. Despite the final result, she posted 22 points. The contest was Whiting's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Mariah Richards, who scored eight points.

Firestone's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Garfield Community Learning Center, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-5.

Firestone is taking a road trip to face off against East at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Someone's luck will take a turn for the better: East has lost five straight at home , while Firestone has lost eight on the road (dating back to last season). As for Garfield Community Learning Center, they will welcome Buchtel at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
