Basketball Recap: Northeastern Clinton Cougars vs. Peru Nighthawks
Northeastern Clinton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 38-36 heartbreaker at the hands of the Peru Nighthawks. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Nighthawks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February.
Northeastern Clinton's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Peru, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northeastern Clinton will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Saranac Lake at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025. Peru and Saranac will round out the year against one another at at 4:00 p.m. on December 27th. Saranac's defense has only allowed 28.6 points per game this season, so Peru's offense will have their work cut out for them.
