Basketball Recap: Ukiah Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Kaleo Olson and Jacob Lunceford

Ukiah played a tough game on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the St. Vincent de Paul Mustangs, falling 54-33. The matchup marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Jacob Lunceford and Kaleo Olson certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Lunceford posted 13 points and six boards, while Olson scored ten points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Ukiah smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 19 consecutive games.

Dylan Chelew was his usual excellent self, putting up 12 points and six steals for St. Vincent de Paul. Those six steals gave Chelew a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Roman Yusupov, who had eight points.

Ukiah's loss dropped their record down to 6-18. As for St. Vincent de Paul, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-8.

Ukiah didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 75-56 defeat against Rancho Cotate on the 4th. As for St. Vincent de Paul, they have also already played their next matchup, a 51-42 win against Santa Rosa on the 1st.
