Softball Game Preview: Miller Cardinals vs. Pierce City Eagles

The Miller Cardinals will head out on the road to face off against the Pierce City Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Miller's pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so Pierce City's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Miller is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Missouri's top teams: Skyline, who was ranked first at the time (Miller was ranked 13th). The Cardinals fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. The game marked the Cardinals' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Pierce City lost 13-7 to Marionville on Tuesday. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Pierce City's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Miller, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-2.

Everything went Miller's way against Pierce City when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Miller made off with a 23-8 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cardinals since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
