Softball Game Preview: Travis Rebels vs. Fredericksburg Billies

The Travis Rebels will venture away from home to take on the Fredericksburg Billies at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Travis has given up an average of 16.1 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Monday just wasn't the day for Travis' offense. They came up short against Lago Vista last Monday, falling 21-0. The Rebels have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Fredericksburg had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Panthers a 12-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Billies, who have now won 12 games by eight runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Larryn Feuge, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Bella Findley, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Fredericksburg hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in ten consecutive matches.

Fredericksburg pushed their record up to 19-9 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Travis, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
