Preview: Community Braves vs. Kaufman Lions
The Community Braves will head out on the road to face off against the Kaufman Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Community will be strutting in after a victory while Kaufman will be coming in after a loss.
Community can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They came out on top against Mabank by a score of 20-12. The victory was just what Community needed coming off of a 58-6 defeat in their prior game.
Community's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Gabe Duron, who rushed for 76 yards, and Brandon Mills jr., who rushed for 136 yards while picking up 7.6 yards per carry.
Meanwhile, Kaufman lost to Sulphur Springs on the road by a decisive 35-20 margin on Friday.
Despite the defeat, Kaufman got a solid performance out of Kylevon Morrow, who rushed for 180 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.5 yards per carry.
Community's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Kaufman, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Community has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 229.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Kaufman struggles in that department as they've been averaging 152.4 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Community beat Kaufman 21-14 in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Community since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
