Recap: Alexandria City Titans vs. West Springfield Spartans

The Alexandria City Titans won the last time they faced the West Springfield Spartans, and things went their way on Monday too. Alexandria City enjoyed a cozy 63-48 victory over West Springfield. Given Alexandria City's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while West Springfield is ranked 240th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Alexandria City was led to victory by Darius Bivins and Kye Robinson. Bivins scored 22 points along with eight steals and seven rebounds, while Robinson scored 29 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Robinson is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Teko Bostick Jr, who scored eight points.

Alexandria City's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3. As for West Springfield, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Alexandria City will take on Woodson at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Woodson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Thursday. West Springfield won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Fairfax at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Hopefully Fairfax focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Thursday.
