Mentor extended the longest winning streak in Northeast Ohio - Valley this week by beating Strongsville, 45-19. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
Conner Krizancic threw for 276 yards and 4 touchdowns. He went 15-21 with 0 interceptions.
Krizancic put up the best numbers through the air as Mentor defeated the Mustangs. Krizancic's favorite target this week was Eddie Daugherty, who caught 9 passes for 158 yards.
6-foot-2 quarterback Krizancic of Steve Trivisonno's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,943. He has also thrown 23 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Colton Whited. The Hudson star has 47 catches for 771 yards.
Entering into this week's contest against Whitmer, Mitchell Guadagni is short just 185 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season. So far this year, Guadagni has thrown for 1,815 yards with 20 touchdowns and 9 interceptions.
The Blue Devils' Richie Norman needs only 66 yards against the Cardinals next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 160 carries Norman has put up 934 yards this year.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when Mentor and Brunswick face off next week.
The Cardinals are in first place, while the Blue Devils are in fourth place.
There should be lots of points scored when Mentor and Brunswick face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Cardinals comes in having scored 401 this season, while the Blue Devils have scored 317. Mentor scored 45 points last week as it defeated Strongsville.
The Comets were the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. Solon beat Brunswick 44-41 earlier in the week.
