Softball Recap: Mendon Unity Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

With a playoff win on the line, Mendon Unity rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They never let the Griggsville-Perry Tornadoes get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. The win was nothing new for the Mustangs as they're now sitting on three straight.

Addison Spilker made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Jillian Shaffer and Brooke Hickey did most of the damage at the plate: Shaffer went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI, while Hickey got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Savannah Kretzer, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Mendon Unity kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matchups.

Mendon Unity's victory bumped their record up to 4-13. As for Griggsville-Perry, they dropped their record down to 2-13 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home.

As of now, neither Mendon Unity nor the Tornadoes have any future games scheduled.
