Otsego is 0-5 against Liberty-Benton since August of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Knights will venture away from home to challenge the Eagles at 6:00 p.m.
Last Thursday, Otsego came up short against Eastwood and fell 3-1.
Otsego couldn't get the W, but boy did they fight for it: two sets took extra rallies. The final score came out to 26-24, 26-24, 21-25, 25-20.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Liberty-Benton, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Paulding on Thursday.
Liberty-Benton not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Paulding between 15 and 18 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-15, 25-18.
Otsego better keep an eye on Maddy Amstutz. She was instrumental in Liberty-Benton's win, getting 14 digs and three assists. Amstutz is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last eight games she's played.
Liberty-Benton's record is now 16-7. As for Otsego, their loss dropped their record down to 14-8.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's match: Otsego has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 7.7 aces per game. However, it's not like Liberty-Benton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.6 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Otsego might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Liberty-Benton in their previous meeting back in September of 2019. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
