Basketball Recap: Trimble Takes a Loss

Trimble was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 61-41 to the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes. While losing is never fun, the Tomcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 308th, while the Buckeyes are ranked 121st).

Nelsonville-York's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Briant Call led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards. Another player making a difference was Alec Thompson, who went 9 of 18 on his way to 19 points in addition to six boards and five assists.

Trimble's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Nelsonville-York, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Trimble will head out to square off against Belpre at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Belpre will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Trimble surely won't give up without a fight. As for Nelsonville-York, they will welcome Berne Union at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Nelsonville-York is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.8 points per game this season.
