Basketball Recap: Cook Inlet Academy Takes a Loss

Cook Inlet Academy was the 64-39 winner over Nanwalek when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Cook Inlet Academy Eagles fell to Nanwalek 67-61. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Eagles came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Alaska basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Nanwalek are ranked 97th).

When it comes to explaining why Cook Inlet Academy lost on Saturday, don't look at Ian McGarry. Despite the final result, he posted 39 points. The matchup was McGarry's 13th in a row with at least 16 points. Alek McGarry was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Cook Inlet Academy's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 15-5. As for Nanwalek, their victory bumped their record up to 2-5.
