Softball Recap: Collinsville Gets the Win

While Collinsville's win against Ector wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Collinsville had just enough and edged out Ector 8-7. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Tessa Vannoy was incredible, firing off three triples, three RBI, and two runs while going 3-for-5. Those three triples gave her a new career-high. Rilee Stewart also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

Vannoy wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Collinsville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's a new trend for Collinsville: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.2.

Collinsville's record is now 4-11. As for Ector, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.

Looking ahead, Collinsville will be playing at home against Whitewright at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Ector, they are taking a road trip to take on Tioga at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Tioga will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Ector surely won't give up without a fight.
