Football Recap: Yorktown Takes a Loss

If Yorktown was riding high fresh off their 29-0 takedown of Carmel on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Huskers fell 28-16 to the Tappan Zee Dutchmen on Thursday.

Sophia Marcello threw for 125 yards and a pair of TDs. Erin Duffy was her top target, picking up 73 receiving yards and two touchdowns. On the ground, Maddy Reilly rushed for 77 yards.

Yorktown has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season. As for Tappan Zee, their win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-0.

Coming up, Yorktown will welcome Brewster at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bears will roll in looking for their 16th straight victory, something the Huskers surely won't give up without a fight. Tappan Zee has already played their next game (against Eastchester), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
