Basketball Game Preview: Ravenswood Red Devils vs. Ritchie County Rebels

Ravenswood hasn't had much luck against Ritchie County recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Ravenswood Red Devils will look to defend their home court against the Ritchie County Rebels at 7:00 p.m. Ravenswood will be strutting in after a win while Ritchie County will be coming in after a defeat.

Ravenswood took a loss when they played away from home last Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They came out on top against South Harrison by a score of 56-45.

Meanwhile, Ritchie County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 42-39 heartbreaker at the hands of Doddridge County. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Rebels have suffered since February 20, 2024.

Ravenswood will have to contain Rae Rupert as she made an impact in Ritchie County's last game. She went 5-for-11 to rack up 13 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. The dominant performance gave Rupert a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chelsie Jeffrey, who posted eight points.

Even though they lost, Ritchie County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive matchups.

Ravenswood's victory bumped their record up to 7-13. As for Ritchie County, their loss dropped their record down to 12-7.

Ravenswood might still be hurting after the 65-40 defeat they got from Ritchie County when the teams last played on February 4th. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Ritchie County's Elsa Law, who dropped a double-double with 24 points and ten steals.
