Preview: Brookfield Academy Blue Knights vs. Lake Country Lutheran Lightning
Brookfield Academy and Lake Country Lutheran are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2016, but not for long. The Brookfield Academy Blue Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Lake Country Lutheran Lightning at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Brookfield Academy sitting on three straight wins and Lake Country Lutheran on seven.
Brookfield Academy can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent match on Saturday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 98-56 victory over St. Francis. Given Brookfield Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while St. Francis is ranked 259th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, even though Milwaukee Lutheran scored an imposing 58 points on Thursday, Lake Country Lutheran still came out on top. Lake Country Lutheran walked away with a 71-58 win over Milwaukee Lutheran.
Sam Hans was his usual excellent self, scoring 29 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. He also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Skrzypchak, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Brookfield Academy's win bumped their record up to 13-1. As for Lake Country Lutheran, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
Brookfield Academy couldn't quite finish off Lake Country Lutheran in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 and fell 86-83. Can Brookfield Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
