 On Wednesday, the Boulder Panthers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  5-4  win over the Denver North Vikings.
  Sam Skubic looked comfortable as he  tossed four innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   four  hits (he also only allowed one  walk).
 On the hitting side,  Leo Damrauer was  excellent,  scoring two  runs while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances.  Beck Chesterton was another key contributor,  scoring a  run while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances.
 On Denver North's side,  John Miller made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of  Omar Escobar, who  went 2-for-4 with a  double and  an  RBI.
 Even though they lost, Denver North was hitting in the alleys and  finished the game with five  doubles. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Boulder only hit  no.
 Boulder now  has a winning record of 2-1. As for Denver North, they are  on  a  five-game losing streak  (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.
 Boulder will look to defend their home field  on Thursday against Fairview at 6:00  p.m. Fairview has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.5  runs per game on average), something Boulder will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Denver North, they will head out on the road to  face off against  Golden at 4:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Golden is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 6.8  runs per game this season.
