Football Game Preview: Wenatchee Panthers vs. Davis Pirates

The Wenatchee Panthers are taking a road trip to square off against the Davis Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wenatchee has given up an average of 26 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Wenatchee took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 49-33 win over West Valley. The Panthers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Wenatchee's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Russell Cate, who rushed for 64 yards and one TD on only eight carries. Those 64 rushing yards gave Cate a new career-high.

Cate was just one part of a punishing run game: Wenatchee was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 251 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Davis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by Sunnyside and fell 42-14.

Davis' defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Wenatchee, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Wenatchee beat Davis 27-20 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
