Basketball Recap: Blake Find Success

Blake hadn't done well against Jefferson recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. In a tight game that could have gone either way, the Blake Yellow Jackets made off with a 37-36 victory over the Jefferson Dragons. That's more bragging rights for the Yellow Jackets, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Leading Blake to victory were Jorianne Lue and Diyamond Robinson. Lue went 7 of 13 en route to 16 points and four steals, while Robinson posted six points along with six boards and six steals. Lue's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Jefferson's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Laila Keys, who put up seven points. The team also got some help courtesy of Damaria Pitcher, who had eight points.

Blake now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Jefferson, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

When Blake and Jefferson next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Blake will try to stop Chamberlain's 12-game winning streak when the meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Jefferson will try to stop Steinbrenner's three-game winning streak when the meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
