Great Crossing was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Western Hills on Wednesday. Great Crossing blew past Western Hills 7-1. The win continues a trend for Great Crossing in their matchups with Western Hills: they've now won four in a row.

Ellie Hoover was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other pitching news, Great Crossing got a great performance from Kyleigh Harrison as she pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

Back at the plate, Ashtyn Holbrook was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Brenna Parker, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Great Crossing hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.

Great Crossing's record is now 3-1. As for Western Hills, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

Great Crossing will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Assumption at 6:00 p.m. on the 10th. As for Western Hills, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, an 8-7 victory against Garrard County on the 29th.
