Baseball Recap: Ogden International vs. Lane Tech Champions

Ogden International lost against Lane Tech back in May of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Ogden International fell 8-3 to the Lane Tech Champions. Ogden International has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Nathan Espada and Malachi Gonzalez did some serious damage despite the final result: Espada got on base in three of his four plate appearances with a stolen base and an RBI, while Gonzalez scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Gonzalez has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

On Lane Tech's side, they got a great performance from Jack Davis as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

At the plate, Tyler Rwakatare-Trapp was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Sebastian Wilson was another key contributor, going 1-for-3 with a triple and a run.

Ogden International's defeat dropped their record down to 13-9-1. As for Lane Tech, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season.

While Ogden International had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
