Baseball Recap: Barron Collier's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Barron Collier was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Palmetto Ridge on Monday. The Cougars put the hurt on the Bears with a sharp 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won three games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Andrew Maroney tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Barron Collier is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 1-3 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Barron Collier let Jonathan Hernandez-Carr and Casey Johnson run wild. Hernandez-Carr went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run, while Johnson went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those doubles were Hernandez-Carr's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Waite, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
