Baseball Preview: South Eugene Axe vs. Sprague Olympians
The South Eugene Axe will square off against the Sprague Olympians at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.
Things were looking good for South Eugene after they put the first points on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Silverton by a score of 3-2.

South Eugene saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brendan Van Ryzin, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Van Ryzin is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Gavin Bush also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Meanwhile, Sprague got themselves on the board against Servite on Thursday, but Servite never followed suit. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over the Friars. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Olympians.
The win got Sprague back to even at 2-2. As for South Eugene, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
South Eugene suffered a grim 16-4 defeat to Sprague in their previous matchup back in April of 2022. Can South Eugene avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
