It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Academy for Urban Scholars ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Cristo Rey Cougar 54-51. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 56-34 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Cristo Rey lost, don't look at Nate Getahun. Despite the final result, he posted 29 points. That was a full 56.9% of Cristo Rey's points, marking the seventh time in a row he's scored more than a third of the team's points. Jordan Croom was another key player, putting up eight points.

The victory got Academy for Urban Scholars back to even at 2-2. As for Cristo Rey, their loss was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-12.
